evaluation

I think this module was more about the modelling than animation.  I've learnt some new things such as exploding and I think I've gotten  better at modelling polygons as is evident by the island.  We worked on particle systems where I made a smoke.  I worked on Photoshop for in order to create the island.  We learnt how to create textures and colours using UVW mapping.  reactor tools was another thing we learnt where we made object collide.  Daylight system was used to create realistic lighting

Good points:
The good point were that we made a pretty good start, but we could not maintain it.

Bad points:
The bad points about the project were the lack of communication between the group members, apart from Facebook.  This was a real problem at times as I/We needed to work on things where I/We needed help.  i think he fact that we were only meeting once a week hindered us, I think the meetings should have been more than once a week.  The other bad thing is that there was no direction  in the group, as for nearly 2 weeks I had no idea what was going on.  This led to me modelling several islands and only one of them was used.

animation - ships and planes

All I had to do is move the ship across from Japan to about 300miles north of Pearl Harbour  and make it look like the planes have taken off from the ship so i made the planes really small and placed them where the ship was going to stop.  i first tried to animate the planes without grouping it and it didnt work.

whole island - again and again

The fact that I couldn't find the island file presented me with both a problem as it was in the last week and an opportunity to get it right especially getting the flat area for the runway, as is shown in the picture below.

However, it went all wrong as I was only  viewing it from one angle - top view, so it didn't look particularly good.

So I started  again and this time I used a different technique.  I used the line tool to sketch out the islands and then extruded.  then I placed all the ships, trees and barrel in.

I was told to add some materials but I wasn't feeling well,  also the fact  that i wasn't feeling   well  made me miss the presentation that we  were supposed to give in week 12.

Due to bad communication between the members of the group I am unsure of which island they used for the final production.

Week 10 - Whole ford island

Week 10 - Whole ford island blog

While waiting for others to finish their work, so I can animate them, I thought I’d give an attempt on modelling the whole island now that I’ve got the hang of modelling lands.  As it turns out, I finished it within an hour.

Using select object, select and move, and the z index below the animation line I was able to  produce:

I have produced 3 different islands using different techniques, it will be up to the other group mates to choose which they like best.

setback

scene 2 needs redoing as i seem to have forgotten to have the pictures in the same folder so when i gave it to my group mate it didn’t came wih the textures.  I tried to read it but it seems i have th wrong picture as the bumps are in the wrong place like so:

With a mini group meeting I was clear on what I needed to do and it turns out that that we don’t need arrow as we are going to take another approach.    We also discuss that we dont need to have the whole of the pacific ocean modelled, but just the part where Hawaii and japan are visible., so i came up with an improved version.

As it turns out I don’t need the blue sky in the background because of the daylight system, so I’ve deleted it.

unfortunately i lost the file.  see whole island - again and again

exploding plane

I click on space warp > geometric deformable > bomb and draw it near the plane.  I then set the
settings to the image below.
